Trauma-informed boudoir photography refers to an approach to photography that takes into account the potential impact of trauma on individuals, particularly in the context of a boudoir photoshoot, which typically involves intimate or revealing poses. Boudoir can be an emotional experience for so many individuals, especially those with a history of sexual trauma…but it can also be a beautiful way to start the healing process of loving your body and your embracing your sexuality again.

Trauma-informed boudoir photography also involves prioritizing the client’s autonomy, respecting their boundaries, and giving them control over the photoshoot experience. This might mean allowing the client to choose their own poses, clothing, and makeup, or providing options for how the photos will be shared or displayed. Overall, a trauma-informed approach to boudoir photography can help clients feel more empowered and in control of their experience, and minimize any potential negative impacts on their mental health and well-being.

A trauma-informed approach means creating a safe and supportive environment for the client, where the photographer is mindful of potential triggers and sensitive to the client’s boundaries and needs. This might involve discussing the client’s history and experiences with trauma, and asking for their consent and input throughout the photoshoot process.
